Grandma’s Photo Album

I don’t know who this woman is. I just know she meant enough for my grandmother to have her picture. It was taken in Puerto Rico sometime in the 1950’s. At that time, taking a photo meant more; cameras weren’t as ubiquitous as they are now. People actually got dressed up for the occasion.

I wonder what this occasion was. Her hair is well done, and her clothes look like they could be some of her best. I know Grandma grew up in a rural part of Puerto Rico where most of the population was poor. Most of the pictures of hers from that time have dirt roads.
